How long have you been at Assetz and how did you get into business lending?
I joined Assetz in September 2019 after taking redundancy from Lloyds Bank Group. My finance/banking career started in 1987 when I was employed by North West Securities in Chester (part of the Bank of Scotland) as a data input clerk. I moved with the company when it transitioned to Capital Bank plc, Bank of Scotland, HBOS and finally Lloyds Banking Group. I undertook various roles such as Interventions Manager, Relationship Manager in Litigation Funding and finally as Assistant Relationship Director working within the Commercial Property Team at Lloyds.
What does a normal day look like in your role?
Managing and processing loans through all stages of the loan origination journey including managing and maintaining relationships with customers, brokers and all professional parties. Working closely with the Relationship Director and internal teams to ensure customer and business outcomes are delivered in a timely manner.
What’s the best thing about working at Assetz Capital and working in lending?
I’m fortunate to work with a fantastic team who are always there for each other, always looking at ways to improve on what we do whilst keeping the customer journey at the forefront of our minds. There is a sense of pride working on a funding case from start to finish and supporting the customer every step of the way on that journey. I couldn’t do my job without the help, support and guidance from all teams in Assetz Capital.
What’s your favourite activity outside of work?
Spending time with my family is important, although I do enjoy ‘Me’ time which I spend in the gym. I’m currently attending 3 PT sessions per week to achieve my fitness and wellbeing goal.
