About Renewable Energy Loans

Many renewable energy projects have seen a set back with the recent reductions in Feed In Tariffs and other Government support making finance more difficult. Nonetheless, Assetz Capital, as one of the largest funders of renewable energy projects in the UK, is very supportive of both construction and operational finance and can provide competitive finance rates and LTVs for one or both of these stages of a project. Onshore wind turbines, anaerobic digesters, solar energy and other types of project are considered.

In Detail

    • First charge security taken over the land on which the project is located on in mainland UK and NI
    • Debenture required over the company or SPV in which the project operates
    • Insurance policies and warranties required on the machinery and these to have Assetz Capital as 1st Loss Payee and Notified Party respectively.
    • Additional security may be required including debentures and supplementary legal charges
    • Interest charged daily subject to minimum loan term (specific to each loan)
    • We will lend to an individual or Limited Company (including SPVs) and are able to consider overseas jurisdictions owning UK projects, subject to suitable foreign legal opinions
    • Broker fees will be added to the loan where the LTV allows and paid on completion. Responsibility for advising the Borrower on structure and pricing will be solely that of the broker
    • Details of a viable exit will be required and in some cases we may request evidence of this
    • Lending will be based on the value created using a discounted cash flow method and reported to Assetz Capital by an Independent Valuer speciailising in renewable energy products.
    • Allowances for construction periods prior to commissioning can be made, however failure to meet a commissioning date may impair the value of the project and require further capital injection from the owners
    • Impaired credit will not be considered
    • Assetz Capital reserves the right to appoint an independent consuktant to make an appraisal of the project at any time during the loan.
    • The borrower is responsible for all professional fees and an undertaking/cover for legal and other professional costs will be required
    • Title Insurance will be a requirement on loans where they fit the relevant criteria and the fee for this will be included in the legal cost
